The First 12/13/24

Happy Friday y’all!
I just cut the first poppy of the year! It’s a beautiful pastel Icelandic poppy and for some reason that variety has multiple stems popping up extremely early. Not to get anyone too excited though. We won’t have enough stems to sell bundles until well after the new year, but it sure is nice to have a couple of pretty flowers on the table in mid December. The anemones have thrown up a few lookers as well, but that’s par for the course. They’re always the earliest. We’ll probably have a few bundles of them in late January.
Speaking of spring flowers, if you’re looking for the perfect gift for that special someone who has everything except a flower farm, get them a month long subscription of spring flowers in either March or April. Pre-sales are happening now and we do sell out, so don’t wait if it’s up your alley. We’ve got plenty of options (Wed, Fri, weekly, bi-weekly, poppies only) and you can even opt out of a couple varieties that may not be your favorite, so you can ensure that everything you receive floats your boat.
Local shoppers, the store is open this week and the next, but then closes down for the Winter. Right now we’ve got spring bulbs at 50% off in the store! This is only available in the store (shipping is not an option), so swing by for hot deals on cool crops if you’d like to grow your own tulips, daffodils, and anemones.
To all you Mumsketeers out there, you may have noticed our Wednesday “Meet your Mums” email where we featured the lovely Purple Light mum, with photos, descriptions, and a detailed video of what to expect from it as a cut flower. This was the first of a series that our team has put together and you can expect to see a new one each week, so keep your eyes peeled on Wednesdays if you want to learn more about our heirloom varieties.
We had our holiday party a little early this year. It was a blast. Games, Low Country Boil, campfire, dancing, karaoke….all the good stuff. Even Edwin, our old friend who worked with us for years, came by with his family and stayed til the very end. We love our team and we love a good party, so it was a great day.
If you’re coming to Comer this weekend, the coffee shop will be closed, but all our other local delights will be open. We’ve been really enjoying Taco Mountain’s rebirth as a brick and mortar this month. Carnitas everything please. Super yummy, so check them out if you’re on a road trip and looking to fill your tank.
Have a great weekend!
