Ice n' roses hellebores
Ice N’ Roses hellebores, in our opinion, are the very best hellebore plants to invest in! We love them because their blooms face outward and upward to the sun instead of bending downward like many other lenten rose varieties. They truly delight us every single year.
About Hellebores
Hellebores are the first perennials to bloom in late winter / early spring while most other plants are still sleeping! Hellebores are hardy cool weather bloomers that produce gorgeous long-lasting cut flowers. They are incredibly easy to grow, low-maintenance, and are naturally deer and rabbit resistant flowering plants.

The shady wooded areas of 3 Porch Farm are full of hundreds of hellebore plants, and their beautiful blooms kick off spring for us here at the farm! One of our favorite traditions each year is picking an afternoon for our entire crew to take a break, beverage in hand, and go for a hellebore walk through the woods to admire these beautiful flowering plants. From two-tone and picotee varieties that display one color merging into another, to brighter whites and pinks, to deeper plums and reds, Ice N’ Roses hellebore flowers are stunning against the backdrop of green and brown late winter foliage. Their bright yellow centers look like little bursts of spring sunshine letting us know spring is coming!

Hellebores also produce fabulous cut flowers! The key to the best cut flower hellebores is harvesting the flowers after most of their seed pods have formed. This will empower them to last up to 2 weeks in the vase!
Florists and designers often share with us how much they appreciate using these hellebores in arrangements due to both their long vase life and the depth and texture they provide. The lighter white, rose, and pink flowers pair nicely with the darker foliage of late winter and early spring.

The darker burgundy and red hellebores add dramatic contrast and depth to bouquets, making arrangements more striking and visually complex. These deep shades of hellebores serve as a rich backdrop that highlights lighter or more vibrant flowers and pairs beautifully with jewel tones. The warmth, elegance, and romance of the burgundy and merlot tones are ideal for late winter / early spring floral centerpieces, wedding florals, and Valentine’s Day bouquets. Seasoned designers and artists who use flowers in their work tend to be heavily drawn toward these dark hellebores. Here at the farm, we love using them to draw out the beauty of pastel poppies!
For both first time and experienced growers, our hellebore growing guide is a fantastic hellebore growing resource to bookmark and visit throughout the season. This guide includes tips and photo examples for planting, caring for, and harvesting hellebores for cut flowers. It will even explain why we no longer remove old foliage from our hellebores here at the farm!
We hope you enjoy growing these stunning Ice N’ Roses hellebores. We are honored to be able to share them with you!
