Mother's Day 5/8/26

Happy Friday y’all!
We got a ton of rain yesterday! So much so that it knocked the power out. In fact, I’m writing this yesterday (time traveler) in the pitch black of morning with a nose full of peony and garden rose fragrance from the vase by our bed. A few days ago marked the 20th anniversary of when Mandy and I officially started our relationship, so I filled one of her mom’s gorgeous handmade vases with every beautiful and fragrant garden rose I could find and peppered in a few peonies for good measure.
Steve's 20th anniversary gift to Mandy: flowers from around the farm!
We had a lot of work to do that day, but we celebrated by sitting in the field as dusk approached, in the literal middle of what 20 years had produced, with a beverage and a dog and tried to get our heads around it all. I was unsuccessful at getting my head around it all, but I was successful at being very grateful to have somehow met this girl who lived 3,000 miles away in a moment that was supposed to be fleeting, but somehow became the rest of my life.

Steve & Mandy in the earlier years!
In the middle of writing that, we got a call from a freight driver, so I’m now soaking wet as I needed to unload a truck in the midst of the storm. Since I was already drenched, I decided to climb up on a roof and use the rain to help me clean off our solar panels. I scrub, it rinses. No lightning, so relatively safe.
Back indoors and waiting for electricity to return, we’re pleased to see
that the forecast for Mother’s Day has changed and it appears to be
rain free. We’ll be taking the famous potter, Linda Rovolis (Mandy’s
mom), to the botanical gardens and to a few fine Athens establishments
to celebrate her awesomeness and give gratitude for all the mothering
she has done for both of us in our lives together. If you don’t know
her incredible and always changing pottery, you should visit our Farm Store.
She’s been tasked by Mandy to always come with fresh styles for our
return customers and has amazed us both with the constantly changing,
yet always amazing quality and beauty of her work. Artists often tend
to have a signature style, which is awesome, but I’m always amazed at
how many different styles Linda produces, and how utterly beautiful all
of them are. She is truly gifted.

More Linda vases! When you buy a vase in the Farm Store, the flowers come with it.
Speaking of Mother’s Day, come on by the Farm Store
to get the moms in your life something special. It’s packed with
amazingly cute and charming items produced by sustainably oriented
businesses that are largely women owned. This weekend and next are the
last that it’ll be open until dahlias arrive in the fall. Mandy made
sure to keep some extra flowers for you locals and your mommas, so there
will be poppies and even a few mixed bouquets with peonies in them, in
the store on Saturday! Poppy bundles are in there today (Friday), but
the mixed bouquets are only there Saturday. It’s first come first
served and when supplies are out, they are out, so make it a priority
for your Saturday morning if the bouquet is your target.
We'll also have our favorite Ice N' Roses hellebores for sale in front of the Farm Store this weekend! Each plant is $10, and if you buy 2 you get 1 free!

For you non-locals looking for a Mother’s Day gift, we still have a few fall dahlia subscriptions left, which makes a perfect gift for flower lovers. We just restocked our new merch as well. Our new hats and t-shirts flew off the shelf but are back now with all sizes available!

For growers, we still have heirloom mum plants available, which make the perfect fall cut flowers. We are now also offering unrooted cuttings
for expert growers and are even allowed to ship those to California,
which is an exciting change! Additionally we have a great selection of
wonderful flower seeds in adorable packages designed by Brown Parcel Press if you’re looking for something smaller.
There are also gift cards if you want to contribute a specific amount to a momma and let her pick out her own item of choice.

Finally, we are about to do our annual mum giveaway! We’ll select 5 folks to ship some of our favorite heirloom mum cuttings to. The giveaway takes place on Instagram, so to learn more and to enter to win, follow us @3porchfarm.
Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there! We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
