Chrysanthemum Assistant
The role of this job will focus on the plant care and health of the mums. This position will work with the mum manager and team to efficiently complete weekly tasks that result in mum cuttings to ship across the US. Each week, you will be involved in watering, fertilizing, cutting production, taking inventory, and packing mums to ship.
This role requires a skilled understanding and knowledge of plant production and plant care. We are looking for a highly efficient and quick individual with focus and an eye for detail. This role requires someone that can lift at least 50 lbs. Using a backpack sprayer and moving large quantities of plants is part of weekly tasks.
Workload: Seasonal position. 40 hrs a week. Monday-Friday
Start Date: Mid to late January through late June
What this job is NOT:
- Floral design: You might occasionally bundle flowers, but there is no “arranging” involved.
- Field hand: You might be asked to help with any number of tasks, but flower harvesting or weeding are not the focus of this position. You may also work on group field projects from time to time but this position is mainly for propagation of cuttings and plant health maintenance in high tunnels.
- Internship: Though there will be plenty learned on the job about flowers, farming, and how to effectively run a business, this is a paid job for someone with real work experience.
- Laid back: Though everyone out here is incredibly friendly, respectful, and drama free, it is a high paced work flow with specific deadlines each day, so time management and the ability to hustle while maintaining a good attitude is a must.
