This role is focused on growing and shipping high quality chrysanthemum cuttings. This position will work with the chrysanthemum manager and mum team to efficiently complete weekly tasks that result in mum cuttings for other farmers and gardeners. Each week, you will be involved in producing cuttings, inventorying the crop, and packing items for shipping. This role requires good communication, fine motor skills, and a willingness to learn. The heirloom chrysanthemum production is an exciting and quickly growing part of 3 Porch Farm. We are looking for a focused and enthusiastic team member with an eye for detail. The mum team strives to grow premium quality cuttings efficiently and accurately.

24-32 hrs/wk

3 day weeks. No weekends required.

Tasks:

• Clear communication with crew and management about orders and daily workflow
• Meeting all quality standards for plant production 
• Taking cuttings with crew to meet weekly sales 
• Prep mums for shipping
• Organizing plants for inventory
• Packing mum bags for sale
• Handling organic pesticides and organic fertilizers with oversight
• Plant maintenance and care
• Basic cleaning and sanitation of tools and work areas
• Making boxes
• Pack and ship Mums
• Organization of Mum grow and shipping supplies
• Counting (Plants, Trays, Boxes, etc)
• Working with other teams as needed

What this job is NOT:

• Floral design! You might occasionally bundle flowers, but there is no “arranging” involved.
• Field hand: You might be asked to help with any number of tasks, but flower harvesting or weeding are not the focus of this position. You may also work on group field projects from time to time but this position is mainly for propagation of cuttings and plant health maintenance in high tunnels.
• Internship: Though there will be plenty learned on the job about flowers, farming, and how to effectively run a business, this is a paid job for someone with real work experience.
• Laid back: Though everyone out here is incredibly friendly, respectful, and drama free, it is a high paced work flow with specific deadlines each day, so time management and the ability to hustle while maintaining a good attitude is a must.

THIS IS A SEASONAL POSITION! February-May

This is a Paid Position. Pay depending on experience. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to learn more about flower farming, managing a small business, or just to be part of a fast paced, flower operation for almost half a year. 

Over 40 hr weeks are very rare in this position, but if it occurs, we pay time and a half for anything over 40 hrs.
